At the event day of the “In the Footsteps of Elsi and Tove” exhibition, a fresh documentary about Tove Jansson will be screened, followed by a curator-led tour of the exhibition. The tour complements the themes of the documentary and delves especially into the life and career of architect Elsi Borg.

As part of the event day for the In the Footsteps of Elsi and Tove exhibition, a fresh documentary about Tove Jansson will be screened, followed by a curator-led tour of the exhibition. The tour complements the themes of the documentary, with a special focus on the life and career of architect Elsi Borg.

Documentary film: Tove Jansson and the Ten Virgins (2024)

This documentary film provides new perspectives on Tove Jansson as an artist. It explores researchers’ insights and contemporaries’ memories of Jansson and her only altarpiece. The film also delves into her thoughts on various painting techniques through diary entries and letters.

In addition to Jansson’s personal letters and notes, the documentary includes extensive archival material, featuring never-before-seen footage filmed by her life partner, Tuulikki Pietilä. Actress Alma Pöysti voices Tove Jansson in the film, with narration by her brother, actor Oskar Pöysti.
