What does it mean to be from Central Finland? Why have so many significant innovations, such as the Finnish-language school system, originated in Central Finland? These and many other topics are explored at the Museum of Central Finland, affectionately known as KeMu.
The Museum of Central Finland is a cultural history museum that tells visitors stories of life, art, and cultural history in Central Finland. At The Museum of Central Finland, you can dive deep into the content of the exhibitions, learn something new, or journey back in time through memories.
The permanent exhibition Exploring Central Finland takes visitors on a journey through time, from ancient Stone Age settlements to the technological boom at the turn of the millennium. In addition, The Museum of Central Finland has two changing exhibition spaces that showcase a wide range of everyday phenomena, art, and youth culture, all presented with an interesting, current, and Central Finnish perspective. In the children’s Activity Corner Nappula, young visitors can play old board games, enjoy vintage toys, and engage in various crafts.
KeMu offers both local visitors and those coming from farther afield a memorable exploration of Central Finnish cultural heritage. On this journey, everyone can find delightful aspects of themselves as well!
