For families

Aalto2 offers an immersive learning environment for all ages. At the museum centre, visitors can take part in workshops, explore exhibitions with a self-guided activity booklet, listen to guided tours, get creative in the Activity Corner Nappula, or simply enjoy a delightful day out.

Activities for Young Museum Visitors

Both museums at the Aalto2 Museum Centre offer plenty of activities for young visitors. On the Alvar Aalto Museum side, children can follow in Alvar Aalto’s footsteps by sketching their dream house at an architect’s drawing desk. They can also explore the Aalto – Work and Life exhibition with their own activity booklet. In the permanent exhibition, little designers can even create their own city using fun magnetic pieces.

At the Museum of Central Finland, children can discover the exhibition with the help of Wolmar, the museum’s friendly regional bunny. They can try their hand at creating a prehistoric rock painting using modern technology, encounter a mythical bear, and experience life in the past by examining objects and listening to stories. How would it feel to step into a smoke sauna, visit a bustling marketplace, sit at an old-fashioned school desk, or take the driver’s seat in a rally car? Guided by young Alvar, visitors can also embark on a unique journey to Jyväskylä as it was over a hundred years ago. The Exploring Central Finland exhibition features fun activities, which can be picked up at the museum’s information desk or in front of the permanent exhibition on the second floor.

The Activity Corner Nappula at the Museum of Central Finland also offers a variety of enjoyable activities. Children can play traditional games, try out old-fashioned toys, colour in pictures, dress up in historical costumes, read storybooks, and take part in arts and crafts.

The crafts and activities available in Nappula change throughout the year, reflecting the seasons and current exhibitions—so there’s always something fun to do!
