The Pool – The Origin of Pool Skateboarding
The Pool, opening at Aalto2 on 18 May, is a concept of four exhibitions combining Alvar Aalto’s architectural heritage, international skateboarding culture, rap and hip-hop culture.
The three skateboarding exhibitions are united by the design of Alvar Aalto’s Villa Mairea pool and its influence on international skateboarding culture. An exhibition on rap and hip hop culture explores the history of Finnish rap and Central Finland’s influence on the development of hip hop culture as a whole.

Lizzie Armanto, Arto Saari and you - Aalto2 challenges you to be part of The Pool exhibition!
Take a skateboarding-themed photo or use one you’ve already taken. Send your photo to the museum and participate in the most exciting exhibition of the summer! Photos will be featured as part of the exhibition throughout the summer.
Among those who submit photos, Aalto2 will raffle off four (4) €100 gift cards to Beyond’s online store. The prizes will be drawn on May 31, 2024, June 28, 2024, July 26, 2024, and August 30, 2024.
The campaign time is from May 13 – August 30, 2024.
