Experience Da Vinci’s The Last Supper reimagined in a car repair shop. Freddy Fabriksen’s photography exhibition takes the classics of art into a car repair shop.
In his award-winning Renaissance Series, photographer Freddy Fabris recreates iconic Renaissance masterpieces in an unexpected setting: a car repair shop. Using mechanics, friends, and actors as his models, Fabris transforms familiar compositions into insightful, witty tableaux. The series has gone viral on social media, earned multiple international photography awards, and toured galleries worldwide from 2016 to 2020.
Now, for the first time in the Nordic region, the complete series is on view at the Aalto2 Museum Centre in Jyväskylä. Individual works from the project were previously featured in the Iconic Works exhibition at the Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki and at the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm in 2020.
Born in New York and raised in Buenos Aires, Fabris is currently based in Chicago. Known primarily for his work in advertising, he also pursues an active independent artistic practice. His commercial clients include some of the world’s most recognisable brands such as Audi, BMW, Toyota, Adidas, Levi’s, Axe and McDonald’s.
The exhibition is produced by the Museum of Central Finland and curated by Ilja Koivisto.
