Children’s games in Central Finland from the late 19th century to the 1970s – a photo show

Klo 12.30-14.00

In their free time, children have always enjoyed the outdoors, whether in summer or winter. The photo show shows how children have played in the countryside of Central Finland as well as in the city of Jyväskylä.

In the city, children’s playgrounds were often city yards and streets. In the countryside, the surrounding nature provided a framework for adventure. Children from wealthier families often had their own nursery. Toys were made from tin, porcelain, paper and mixed paste and, of course, wood.

The illustrated presentation is available in the Aalto2 auditorium and is produced by the Museum of Central Finland.

Included with the Aalto2 Museum Centre admission fee.
