The Muuratsalo Experimental House
The Experimental House is a studio and summer apartment designed by Alvar and Elissa Aalto for themselves, located on the west shore of Muuratsalo island, about 30 minutes by car from the Aalto2 museum centre. The Experimental House is in a beautiful location on the cliff of Päijänne, but still sheltered by the forest. Here, Aalto had the freedom to experiment with different materials, shapes, techniques and proportions. As a model, the villa has an ancient atrium house. Read more about the building’s stunning architecture on the website of the Alvar Aalto -foundation.
