Schools and kindergartens

At the Alvar Aalto Museum, architecture and design are explored and learned through experiential and engaging approaches. Hands-on guided tours of the permanent exhibition Aalto – Work and Life, along with supervised workshops in the Kulma workshop space, offer children and young people meaningful insights into the architecture and design of the Aaltos.

School Trips to the Alvar Aalto Museum

Pre-school groups and other school groups are warmly welcome to the museum – for example, on a class trip!

In the workshop Who Lives in the Mini-Hut?, pre-school groups build a small hut or nest for an animal character using a variety of natural materials. Through storytelling and play, the children are introduced to basic concepts of architecture and design.

For school-aged children, the visit includes a guided tour of the permanent exhibition Aalto – Work and Life, as well as the supervised workshop A City for Everyone. In the workshop, pupils explore the themes of urban planning and a well-designed environment in a practical and engaging way.

  • The duration of the workshop packages is approximately 1.5–2 hours.
  • In addition to the full workshop package, it is also possible to book a guided functional tour only. All workshop packages always include a guided tour. Other themes and approaches can be arranged separately according to your wishes.
  • Price for study groups: €70 per guided tour, €70 per workshop, or €100 for both together (VAT included). Admission fees are charged separately. The fee will be invoiced.

For schools and pre-scools in the Central Finland region, admission and guided tours are free of charge. The workshop fee is €70 per group (VAT included).
