Christmas Harmonies with Musica
1 PM – 1.30 PM
A smaller ensemble from Jyväskylä’s Musica Choir will fill Aalto2 with festive Christmas music at the start of the event.
Founded in 1977 in connection with the University of Jyväskylä’s Department of Musicology, Musica brings together around 20 active amateur and professional singers. The choir’s artistic director is Marjukka Manner. Members of Musica Choir will perform in the connecting section of Aalto2 Museum Centre at 1 pm.
Festive workshops hosted by the Museum of Central Finland and the Alvar Aalto Museum
1.30 PM – 4 PM
The Christmas Table Awaits! A warm and inviting Christmas table will be laid at the museum centre throughout the event, offering visitors the chance to draw, create and make festive decorations under the guidance of museum staff.
At the shared Christmas table, hosted by the Alvar Aalto Museum, visitors can discover the joy of drawing. With the help of simple, accessible drawing prompts, you can create beautiful Christmas cards inspired by the festive setting around you. The table is decorated with seasonal elements, including flowers and evergreen branches arranged in Aalto vases, lanterns and twinkling lights. Take a closer look at the details of the table setting and use them as inspiration for a card or artwork for someone special. Enjoy a moment of creativity, togetherness and festive treats.
Visitors can also make traditional old-fashioned Christmas tree decorations. Create charming yarn gnomes and paper chains, which have adorned Christmas trees for more than a century. Along the way, you can learn about the fascinating history of these beloved decorations. Best of all, you can take your handmade ornament home to bring a touch of nostalgic Christmas spirit to your own tree.
The Christmas table warmly welcomes visitors of all ages.
