Architecture Tour for Adults – Exploring the Aalto2 Museum Centre through Aalto’s Ideas and Personal Experience
Join a guided tour of the Alvar Aalto Museum, the Museum of Central Finland, and the connecting wing between them. The tour explores the architecture and history of these buildings through Alvar Aalto’s design philosophy as well as your own observations and senses. You’ll also get to experience the museum buildings in a multisensory way. The tour starts outside the Alvar Aalto Museum and is held in Finnish.
13:00–14:00
Explore Buildings on Animal Feet – Workshop
Location: Exploring Central Finland exhibition (second floor)
What in the world? In the Exploring Central Finland exhibition, you’ll explore old buildings and their construction guided by the footsteps and movements of animals! What kind of house might a dog lead you to? Or where might a cricket’s flight take you? Even in towns, houses used to be built of wood — but what might forest and water creatures think of how humans have taken wood from the forest for building?
14:00–15:00
Children’s Architecture Tour – Discovering Spaces through Play and Exploration
What does a building feel or sound like? Where do the stairs lead? Where do you need to stretch tall – and where crouch low? This playful guided tour through the Alvar Aalto Museum and the museum centre invites children to explore architecture from their own perspective, using all their senses and curiosity. The tour is suitable for children aged 7 and up and begins in the foyer of the Museum of Central Finland. The tour is held in Finnish.
